Dong Wang, PhD

President, CSO, Co-Founder, SAB Member

Dr. Dong Wang is the President and Chief Scientific officer (CSO) of Ensign Pharmaceutical, Inc.  Dong earned his Ph.D. in Polymer Chemistry and Physics from Peking University, China.  He received his postdoctoral training in Pharmaceutical Chemistry in Professor Jindrich Kopecek’s laboratory at the University of Utah.   Dong is a full Professor with tenure at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, College of Pharmacy. He is a renowned pharmaceutical chemist and an expert of nanomedicine.  His research focuses on drug development for musculoskeletal and inflammatory diseases. He has over 90 peer-reviewed publications and is a prolific inventor with over 30 patents and pending patent applications, including the ProGel technology.

Steven R. Goldring, MD

CMO, Co-Founder, SAB Member

Dr. Steven R. Goldring is the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Ensign Pharmaceutical, Inc.  Steve earned his M.D. from Washington University, St. Louis, MO.  He received his resident and fellow trainings at Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA.  Previously, he has served as Chief of Rheumatology at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital and a Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and subsequently was appointed to the position of Chief Scientific Officer at the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) and a Professor of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City.  Steve is an internationally renowned clinician scientist with extensive experience in the study of musculoskeletal diseases with a focus on rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis and periprosthetic osteolysis, and has published extensively within these fields.  As the lead co-inventors of the ProGel technology, he and Dr. Wang have successfully collaborated for over 16 years with 14 co-authored publications and multiple patents/patent applications.

Brian Beck

CEO, CFO, Co-Founder

Mr. Brian Beck is the Chief Financial Officer and Interim Chief Excecutive Officer of Ensign Pharmaceutical, Inc.  Brian earned his B.S. & MACC from Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah.  He is a prominent Omaha entrepreneur, who has co-founded multiple businesses (e.g., GPI Home Solutions, Shannon Pharmaceuticals, etc.).  He has also served as the CFO of a Berkshire Hathaway Subsidiary in Omaha.  As a rule 501 accredited investor, Brian has a wide network of venture capital, private equity and angel investor connections to support the development and fundraising for Ensign.

Gang Zhao, PhD

Senior Scientist

Dr. Zhao has a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from University of Nebraska Medical Center. Dr. Zhao is an expert in macromolecular pharmaceutical prodrug design and evaluation focusing on inflammatory diseases. He has 16 peer reviewed publications.
